Saugerties Pro Musica History

Our organization grew spontaneously, in the 1980’s and 90’s, from the creation by Robert V. Peters, to the involvement of Dr. Herman Ash, beloved physician, in the recreational performance and promotion of chamber music. Throughout the years, the devotion of Dr. Ash and his many musical friends helped to spread enthusiasm for “music in small places” in the town of Saugerties, Ulster County, the Hudson Valley, and beyond.

The vision of Saugerties Pro Musica

Our vision is to provide a source of artistic excellence and to share the intimacy of live performances of classical chamber music, jazz, and vocal music that encourage musical dialogue between performer and audience.

The mission of Saugerties Pro Musica

Our mission is to make a broad range of classical and topical chamber music performances of highest quality available and affordable to the people of Saugerties, the surrounding communities and the Hudson Valley.

Saugerties Pro Musica is a section 501 (c) (3) organization
